FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Fulton Elementary Schools Students Get Energy Education at First Annual Fall 2012 STEM Day

FULTON, MD – There is much to celebrate at Fulton Elementary School about STEM and energy education! Local energy solutions firm greeNEWit has partnered with the Howard County Public School System to identify energy saving opportunities for Fulton Elementary along with students and families in Fulton. The first annual Fall 2012 STEM Day took place October 26, 2012 from 9:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. at  Fulton Elementary located at 11600 Scaggsville Rd., Fulton, Maryland. The daylong celebration of STEM and energy initiatives consisted of energizing presentations and educational activities to teach the importance of saving the environment and taking action to improve the future global energy and resources situation.

Throughout the day, more than 10 leaders and agents of change from greeNEWit ignited an interest in science, technology, engineering, math and nature to anchor sustainability into the minds of students and faculty.

Built to bring STEM Day home in the form of action, greeNEWit developed an Energy Savings Incentive that gives students the opportunity to win prizes while earning money for Fulton Elementary that will be used toward Green Schools certification, STEM, school building upgrades, field trips and other energy efficient causes. All that is needed to generate the funds is for community members to participate in the no additional cost Quick Home Energy Check (QHEC) program.

greeNEWit created the OUR Schools Program to teach energy education for free in local public schools. Through this program, the company hopes to neutralize the carbon footprint of Maryland schools in the next 10 years, while producing the first generation of truly energy-conscious students, teachers, staff and administration.

greeNEWit is an organization founded to help society build sustainable communities and better economies through energy efficiency and conserving the use of natural resources. The company helps homeowners and businesses adopt best practices to cut costs and achieve energy savings.
