Chicago TechweekTechweek 2012 Recap

My friends at Big Marker gave me a pass to the 2012 Techweek Conference. It was a five day event (June 22-26) downtown Chicago. With a great turn out, it was easy to see how Chicago is quickly becoming the place to be for all stages of the business cycle: from idea to startup to IPO.

The conference featured an interactive business expo where you could easily strike up conversations with the most innovative people in business and tech. During my visit, I networked with Float Mobile Learning, Coupon Trade (a place to resell unused daily deals and gift cards), the gals at Cheeky Chicago (even got swayed into purchasing a VIP Cheeky card), the social media assassins at Social Katy and the project director of Vanishing Cultures – to name a few.

Not only was the business expo crowded, Techweek had a job fair of its own. With more than 30 employers, the hiring fair promoted job opportunities available in all business and technical fields including business development, marketing, HR, operations, design, development, data analytics and more.

In addition, the conference featured some great break out sessions and keynote speeches by some of the most influential people in the tech space. CEO of Orbitz Barney Harford and  Hootsuite CEO Ryan Holme were featured speakers. I attended the startup boot camp session on Sunday and learned a ton about how to kick start a business. They discussed ways to obtain financing and everything you need to know to get your business off the ground.

I was able to actively prospect and stay up with the trends in the digital space. Check out some of the stories on Techweek Chicago 2012 below – so cool!
