FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Veterans 360 to Engage Today’s Young Combat Veterans in a Program of Support to Help Them Succeed in Tomorrow’s World

SAN DIEGO, CA – On April 1, 2013 the first squad of 12 recently separated young combat veterans will embark on a 30 to 60-day journey with Veterans 360. This support program of engagement, education, employment and healing will help veterans develop the professional and interpersonal skills needed to succeed in civilian life.

The program will include accommodation, transportation, an educational refresher course, employment connections and more. It will take part in two phases and be lead by local educators, employers and healing partners. The first phase (30 days) will expose these young veterans to numerous facets of civilian life, both business and social in nature. Upon graduation, Veterans 360 will help transition them to phase two. Phase two is the commencement of the next period in their lives whether it entails education, employment or continued service. Veterans 360 will guide and support them as they move forward into civilian life.

A holistic healing approach will be presented throughout their time with Veterans 360. Student veterans will be introduced to numerous therapeutic modalities such as a buddy system, mentorship, horticultural, equine, yoga, positive reinforcement, surfing, meditation, sailing and team events.

The selection process is competitive. All participants complete an online application and are interviewed and evaluated by the Veterans 360 board of directors and health team.

“Military service is very structured, and upon separation—without work or family—that structure often slips away,” Rick Collins, founder and executive director of Veterans 360 said. “Whether service work, class-work or therapeutic activities, we will engage our squad members in meaningful activities every day while they are with us. We will provide our veterans with a reason to get out of bed, clear scheduling so they can plan with a sense of purpose and personal empowerment upon completion.”
