The Maryland Entrepreneur Awards were created to recognize leaders throughout Maryland who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit through business, technology and social awareness. greeNEWit was selected because of its achievements to helping residents and businesses save money in Howard County by implementing energy efficiency measures and adopting green best practices.
One of the ways that greeNEWit helps residents in Howard County is by providing energy efficiency upgrades is in the form of Quick Home Energy Checkups (QHEC). These checkups include the installation of CFL light bulbs, aerators, low flow showerheads, hot water heat wraps and pipe insulation. This program supports EmPOWER Maryland, and owners and renters in the state qualify simply by having a utility bill.
The Maryland Entrepreneur Awards are sponsored by the Maryland Entrepreneur Quarterly, a news resource for entrepreneurs in Maryland founded by The Business Monthly, and the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship, an initiative of the Howard County Economic Development Authority.
