FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Royal Dynamite Co-Founder Nadia Sasso Wins EUREKA! Ventures Competition Series at Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation at Lehigh University
BETHLEHEM, PA. – Nadia Sasso, Royal Dynamite co-founder and Lehigh University graduate assistant, recently submitted a business proposal to the EUREKA! Ventures Competition Series at Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation at Lehigh University. This series of student competitions seeks business proposals with the potential to make a positive impact through the pursuit of innovative thinking and sustainable business models.
Sasso was instrumental in developing the Artisans Abroad Program “Color Couture” program with Royal Dynamite as it aims to inspire teenagers from developing countries to pursue their interests in art by providing a platform to use their artistic talents and begin entrepreneurial endeavors.
The proposal placed second in the social impact category of the venture competition series and Sasso was awarded a total of $2,500 in prizes: $1,000 in funding and $1,500 in in-kind prizes.
“These competitions give undergraduates and graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni the opportunity to work together to turn innovative ideas into real enterprises… creating economic and social value,” Lisa Getzler-Linn, senior director, programs and operations said. “As a winner, Nadia and the Artisans Abroad Program “Color Couture” will be one step closer to launching the venture in doing social good across the world.”
Sasso is currently in Sierra Leone to put this initiative into action. Just this past week, she officially launched the Artisans Abroad Program “Color Couture” and is partnering with students from Girls Empowerment Summit Sierra Leone (GESSL) and the Visao Foundation to tye dye shirts and design textiles as a means of facilitating social change through self expression.
